Welsh Pop star Duffy has revealed she was ‘raped, drugged and held captive’ in a shocking Instagram post.
The Mercy singer shared the horrifying news with her 24,000 followers on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old said: “Many of you wonder what happened to me, where did I disappear to and why.
“A journalist contacted me, he found a way to reach me and I told him everything this past summer.
“He was kind and it felt so amazing to finally speak.
“The truth is, and please trust me I am ok and safe now, I was raped and drugged and held captive over some days.”

She added: “Of course I survived.
“The recovery took time.
“Theres no light way to say it.
“But I can tell you in the last decade, the thousands and thousands of days I committed to wanting to feel the sunshine in my heart again, the sun does now shine.”

Duffy, who topped the charts with her album, Rockferry, in 2008, explained why fans hadn’t heard new music from her over the years.
“You wonder why I did not choose to use my voice to express my pain?” she said. 
“I did not want to show the world the sadness in my eyes.
“I asked myself, how can I sing from the heart if it is broken?
“And slowly it unbroke.”

This isn’t the first time the she was subjected to a terrifying ordeal at the hands of a criminal.
In September 1998 Duffy, then 14, was put in a police safe house when her stepfather’s ex-wife plotted to to pay an assassin £3,000 to kill her stepfather, Philip Smith.
Smith’s ex-wife, Dawn Watson, was sentenced to three and a half years imprisonment for soliciting to murder.
In another brush with death, the singer escaped from a fire in her rented penthouse apartment in London, back in 2012.
